      Sande Rutstein-OTR

Sande Rutstein, OTR/L, has practiced Occupational Therapy for 24 years in a variety of settings and with various populations. She has focused primarily on pediatrics for 17 of those 24 years. Because of her extensive experience, Sande is effective at collaborating with parents and working with children of all ages and skill levels. She believes that each child is creative, precious and whole, and deserves all the support necessary to live, learn, and grow optimally in school, at home, and in his or her community. Sande founded New Directions for Kids five years ago.

      Sande’s areas of specialization include:

      • Sensory Processing and Regulation
      • Handwriting without Tears
      • Therapeutic Listening
      • Yoga for the Special Child
      • Brain Gym
      • Adoption-Related Issues

Over the last 6 years, Sande has worked with the Kinship Center of the Central Coast, having provided her with a rich education in working with a variety of adoptive, foster, and children with trauma. On a personal note, Sande has the experience of being an adoptive parent in an international adoption; her daughter was adopted from Vietnam and has first-hand knowledge of the impact of having lived in an orphanage.
